Sheafknot - Sheffield's premier sea shanty group

Sheafknot started life in November 1998 when Steve Flude, John Horsey, Janet Brown and John Fowler got together with the aim of performing sea shanties and martime songs. The present lineup was completed in January 1999 when John Bowden and Vic Shepherd joined the group.

Although based in Sheffield - about as far from the shore as you can get - we do have some maritime connections, as John B and John H are originally from Liverpool and London respectively, and Janet actually used to be a Wren!

We have performed at numerous maritime festivals and clubs up and down the country and are also all active in various combinations on the local folk scene. In addition to maritime songs we can offer "An Evening With Sheafknot" consisting of traditional songs and dances for a variety of organisations.
